Meital Manzuri recently spoke to Forbes for its coverage of the patent infringement lawsuit filed by cannabis giant Canopy Growth over its CO2 extraction method. According to the piece, the recently acquired patent is broad enough that other companies using this popular technique could very well face lawsuits in the future if Canopy’s suit is successful.
“Given that the patent in question is part of a patent family dating back more than twenty years to October 2000, it stands to reason that a significant portion of cannabis companies use Canopy’s extraction process to produce CBD,” said Meital.
